As we wait, daring to whisper our hope – fearful to speak it aloud after so many betrayals – I find myself singing the song “When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt. It feels poignant that these lyrics return to me – a quiet reminder that faith begins with a whisper – small, trembling, but still alive.

Many nights we’ve prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there’s much to fear
We were moving mountains
Long before we knew we could…
Though hope is frail
It’s hard to kill.

As we wait together, let’s dare to hope and keep singing another song, HaTikvah:

As long as in the heart within The Jewish soul yearns
And toward the eastern edges, onward
An eye gazes toward Zion
Our hope is not yet lost
The hope that is two-thousand years old
To be a free nation in our land The Land of Zion, Jerusalem
